Population Health and Epidemiology
The health of New Zealand’s ageing population depends on many different factors. Our research seeks to understand the factors which make neurological disease more likely for New Zealanders as a whole, or specific groups of New Zealanders. By using this information to identify groups that have a higher risk we can start to understand where that risk is coming from, and what we can do to control it, for example reducing smoking or increasing exercise and improving one’s diet. This epidemiological information gives our work direction, guiding our research and outreach aimed at reducing the risk of neurological disease.
